Luxembourg ESC European Solidarity Corps Children between the ages of 6 and 12 create articles for an online edition of our children’s magazine. The children can publish and comment on articles on a website. The EV (European Volunteer) will work in the non-formal education department of the Luxembourg Red Cross. The department is responsible for the management of 6 “Crèches” (ages 2 months to 4 years) and 18 “Maisons Relais” (ages 3 to 12 years). These institutions are responsible for the extracurricular education of the children. A total of around 5,000 children are enrolled in the various houses. ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
The EV shares accommodation with another volunteer from another project. The living room, kitchen, laundry room, shower and toilet are shared. The apartment near Luxembourg city. Public transport takes you to the city in 10 minutes and to the office in 40-50 minutes. Shops for daily needs are nearby. Public transport is free. The cost of meals is included in pocket money. The travel expenses for the journey from the volunteer’s home country to Luxembourg and back will be paid in full or
TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY
The EV attends standard training provided by the National Agency and the sending organization so that the EV is properly prepared and able to network with other volunteers. These are eg pre-departure training, on-arrival training, mid-term evaluation, meeting point,… Participation in other training must be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
PARTICIPANT PROFILE
The EV should be able to: – coordinate the project independently, with support from the mentor – collaborate with external and internal project partners – be organized to coordinate the different project moments – be between 18 and 30 years old – have a good knowledge of MS -To have an office – Good German language skills – To have a police clearance certificate – Experience in dealing with children is an advantage – A valid category B driver’s license is an advantage – To live in a program country; http://ec.europa.eu/programm
