ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION
Vitadacani is an animal rights activist organisation near Milan. They are looking for volunteers who will take care of the dogs in their shelter and help the organization in promoting the protection of animals. As a volunteer, you will: – Take care of the dogs in the shelter, prepare their food and take them out on walks – Get to know each one of the animals, their personality and their special needs – Clean and take care of the shelter’s spaces – Support the adoption process – Support the organization of events for animal rights – Help communication on social media and maintaining the website
ACCOMMODATION, FOOD AND TRANSPORT ARRANGEMENTS
The volunteers will share a double room in an apartment, shared with other young people. They will have a kitchen where they can cook their own meals, and access to the shelter cafeteria. The cafeteria’s meals will be entirely vegetarian and volunteers during the activities must adhere to the food restrictions and regulations, but outside of it the volunteers will be free to eat whatever they want.
TRAINING DURING THE ACTIVITY
Volunteers will have access to pre-departure training, On Arrival Training and Mid-Term Evaluation according to the Programme. They will receive task-specific training related to animal care, security and hygiene in the shelter and communication tasks.
PARTICIPANT PROFILE
– Available for the whole duration of the project (November 2021 – November 2022) – Great love for animals and the ability to approach them with care – Preferably adhering to the organization’s lifestyle (antispecism, veganism…) or willing to adapt to it during the activities – Willing to “get their hands dirty” with tasks like cleaning the animal shelters – FEMALE due to accomodation arrangements
